Download integrity
How you can trust the file you install.
How Chameron Digital releases software, and how to check that an installer is genuine before you run it.
Our release policy
How releases are distributed, what the release catalogue shows and the code-signing status are set out in the Download and Release Policy. In short:
- Every installer has a SHA-256 checksum, given with the file.
- Only use files you received from Chameron Digital or, once published, from links on this website.
- BILL OS checks the SHA-256 of its own updates before installing them, and goes back to the previous version if an update cannot start.
- We never ask you to turn off antivirus or security software to install our products.
Check a file on Windows
- Open PowerShell in the folder with the file.
- Run
Get-FileHash .\<file name> -Algorithm SHA256. - Compare the hash with the one you were given, character by character. If it differs, do not run the file and contact us.
Code signing
Current installers are not code-signed, so Windows shows an “unknown publisher” warning. The checksum is how you confirm the file is the one we sent. When signing is in place, this page and the release catalogue will say so.
Report a suspicious file
If you find a file claiming to be ours somewhere else, or a checksum that does not match, tell us as described in the Security Policy.
