Set up a receipt printer
How BILL OS prints receipts on 58 mm and 80 mm thermal rolls or A4, and how to set up and test a printer.
BILL OS prints through Windows printing, so it can print to any printer Windows can print to. Receipts can be printed on 58 mm or 80 mm thermal rolls, or as A4 bills.
Set up
- Install the printer’s Windows driver from the manufacturer and print a Windows test page.
- In the printer’s settings, choose the paper width that matches your roll.
- In BILL OS, set your receipt format (58 mm, 80 mm or A4) in the invoice and receipt settings.
- Make a test sale and print the receipt.
Choose the printer once
The first time you print, choose your receipt printer in the print dialog. On other devices that use BILL OS in Chrome, starting Chrome with the --kiosk-printing option prints straight to the default printer without the dialog.
Check
- The receipt shows your shop details, GST lines and payment methods correctly.
- No blank paper feeds after the receipt; BILL OS sizes the page to the receipt.
- The cutter cuts at the end. Most thermal printer drivers cut at the end of the page.
Cash drawers
BILL OS does not send a command to open a cash drawer. Ask us about your drawer before you buy one.
