Use BILL OS on phones, tablets and other computers
How other devices in the shop connect to BILL OS over the local network, and what to check if they cannot.
BILL OS runs on one Windows computer. Other computers, phones and tablets on the same network open it in a browser.
Connect a device
- Make sure BILL OS is open on the main computer.
- Connect the device to the same Wi-Fi or network.
- In the device’s browser, go to
http://<the main computer’s IP address>:4100. If another program already uses port 4100, BILL OS uses the next free port. - Sign in with that person’s own login.
Keep the main window open
Closing the BILL OS window closes BILL OS completely, and other devices lose access. Minimise it instead. To stop BILL OS deliberately, the owner can use Settings → System → Stop BILL OS.
If a device cannot connect
- Check that BILL OS is open on the main computer.
- Check that both are on the same network.
- Check the main computer’s IP address has not changed; giving it a fixed address in your router helps.
- Check that the main computer’s firewall allows the connection on your private network.
If the connection drops mid-sale
A device that loses its connection to the main computer can keep billing; bills sync with their real numbers when the connection returns.
