“Windows protected your PC” when installing BILL OS
Why Windows warns about an unknown publisher when you run the BILL OS setup, and how to check the file and continue safely.
The current BILL OS setup program is not code-signed. Windows SmartScreen therefore shows “Windows protected your PC” or an “unknown publisher” warning the first time it runs.
Check the file first
- Confirm you received the setup program directly from Chameron Digital.
- Open PowerShell in the folder with the file and run:
Get-FileHash .\BILL-OS-Setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256 - Compare the result with the checksum you were given. They must match exactly. If they do not, do not run the file; contact us.
Continue
If the checksum matches, choose More info, then Run anyway.
