The formula

Each month: members = members × (1 − leave rate) + new members. Revenue for the month = members × average fee.

The balance point is where people leaving equals people joining: new members ÷ leave rate.

Worked example

200 members paying ₹1,500 bring in ₹3,00,000 this month. With 20 joining and 8% leaving each month, membership settles towards 250 (20 ÷ 0.08): every extra join is soon matched by people leaving unless renewals improve.

Questions about this calculator

Why does membership stop growing even with steady joins?

Because people leave as a share of a growing base. At some point the leavers equal the joiners. Improving renewals raises that ceiling more than extra advertising does.

How do I find my monthly leave rate?

Count members whose membership ended without renewal in a month and divide by members at the start of that month.
